Wheels and tyres, need to be balanced in order to reduce vibration and to ensure optimal performance fro your tyres. A good example of this is when the washing is loaded into a washing machine unevenly, the drum is not correctly balanced, so it vibrates. Similarly, wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the wheel and tyre is even around the axle.
Why is wheel balancing important?
Wheel Balancing is important and you should always have your wheels balanced whenever you have new tyres fitted. Car or van tyres which are fitted on wheels that have not been properly balanced will wear very quickly and unevenly. Losing grip this way could be very dangerous and the vibration also makes the car’s ride very uncomfortable, possibly to a point of distraction that might lead to an accident.
Wheel Alignment
Wheel Alignment should be carried out regularly and included in the standard maintenance of your vehicle. Wheel alignment is an adjustment of the angles associated with your wheels and setting them to the manufacturer’s optimal setting. There are three adjustments that can be made which are Camber, Caster and Toe.
